Circus Roncalli

Saturday we were at the circus.
I am not a big fan of circus - neither of tigers that an animal tamer whips through the manège nor of clowns (though I don't suffer from "coulrophobia" - fear of clowns).
But when I heard that it was the Circus Roncalli, I came gladly. It is a bit more poetic.

Though in my mind they even here use too much technique - or do you see here a difference to a rock-festival?

There was only one act with animals, though.

A lot of acrobatic work:

... and these was really breathtaking: Artists from the Ukraine.

You have to trust each other completely, to do something breakneck like that!

I wish you beautiful days till Christmas!

A very excellent point!

Very unique photographs, my dear Britta. I like the color schemes quite a bit. Wouldn't it be fun to attend such an event together? I'm with you, though. I absolutely do not like to see an animal mistreated for show. I can hardly abide it!

What a wonderful way to spend an evening in these last few days before Christmas. The lights - the music - the glamour - it surely brings out the child in all of us!

Dear Suze,
and to think that they do it without any safety nets! I don't want to see their rehearsels. Nor their salary. Yes, I would really like to go with you to such an event - though I would even prefer to spend an evening together in a nice restaurant and chat. XX Britta

Dear Pondside,
and it came as a complete surprise! The friend who invited us traditionally goes there since three years with his family (mother, brothers, nephews and sisters in law). The laughter of the children was what I loved most - they were really enchanted.

The last circus I went to featured a naked tattooed lady juggling swords. Those were the days...

Dear IG,
The last circus I went to before featured a man who could stem a big Mercedes with his arms - he was lying on the floor. Those were the days...

You would think that circuses would be prevalent here but not so. After traveling the country most of the year, they go to South Florida for a long winter's rest. At least, I think they still do. Maybe not anymore.

I hope you have a Merry Christmas, Britta!

Dear Young at Heart,
yes, I think that is beyond imagination - I heard they start training them as very small infants. And to see them smile, giving one the impression that it is so effortless.

Dear Walk2Write,
here the big ones work all year round - the little ones have difficulties, you see the artists with lamas and donkeys standign in the streets, begging for food for the animals.
I wish you a Merry Christmas, too!

I liked ir immensely - so poetic! And real difficult stunts - especially the Russian group.

It has a different concept, as far as I know, from other circus. But Heller left it very early, I think.

Thank you for that!
